Welcome to the Exam Hub! Here you can find everything you need to know about MIC exams.

Exams are an important part of college life and can contribute to your final degree, though the number of exams varies by course at MIC. Students are also assessed through other methods such as assignments, presentations, portfolios, and reports. Details for how each module is assessed can be found in their individual Module Outlines, so it is important to familiarise yourself with these. Module Outlines are usually available on Moodle, or from your lecturer or module coordinator if needed.

Exam Timetables

Some modules will host in-class exams during regular teaching time, however, the majority of exams are scheduled during weeks 14 and 15 of each semester. Exam timetables are generally posted on the MIC website in week 10 or 11. It's important that you keep an eye on your exam timetables after their release however, as changes can be made up until the point they're declared final by the college.

Exam Venues

There are many venues where exams can be held on the Limerick and Thurles Campuses.

Guidelines for Exams

There are guidelines in place to ensure the MIC Examinations run smoothly. You should familiarise yourself with the following guidelines in the lead up to exam time.

Exam FAQ's

We've compiled the following information on exam FAQ's to help you prepare for Semester Examinations.

Exam Results

Students will receive their Exam Results for the Autumn Semester in January, while Spring Semester Results will be released in June.

It is important to note that students will need to have their fees paid in full and any outstanding balances cleared in order to access their results. If you do not clear your fees until the day of the release of the results, you will have to wait 24 hours until you can access them.

I-Grades

An I-Grade is applicable when a student is unable to complete some or all material for a given module because of a proven medical or psychological issue, or an immediate family crisis.

When applying for an I-Grade, the justification for your application will be cross-checked with the Student Medical Centre, Counselling or Chaplaincy services. Otherwise third-party evidence will need to be submitted to the relevant service for consideration.

Annual Repeats

Annual Repeat exams are an opportunity for students who have deficient grades in the Autumn or Spring Semester to repeat their exams in August to improve their grades, with repeat exams being capped at C3.

These students will have received an Action Report indicating that they have the option to sit Annual Repeats.

Should you need any further clarification on any aspect of the Annual Repeats, please email AnnualRepeats@mic.ul.ie using your MIC student e-mail account.
