To whom it may concern,
I wish to apply for the position of entertainment officer here in MIC. I feel that I would be most suited to this position as I have a number of characteristics that suit me to this role. My friends describe me as sociable, caring and funny while always lending a hand and being hardworking.
Throughout my time in secondary school, I actively participated in a number of different organisations and committees such as the debs committee, camogie and football teams, student council, being a senior prefect etc. A large part of being involved in these groups was experiencing what it was like to plan events and trips out for a large number of people. During transition year I made a great effort to challenge myself to be in as many committees as possible, one of which included planning the weekend of our Gaisce trip.
On a less serious note, I am always in charge of little trips and adventures that me and my friends go on. I was organised and content when it came to planning the leaving cert holiday to Santa Ponsa and a mystery tour for results night for example. I always try my best to include everyone in my plans and hate making anyone feel excluded. I am a very righteous and determined person who likes getting things done swiftly. One thing I will admit is that I am always looking towards the future when it comes to entertaining and planning.
In more recent years, my house has become the social hub for friends of mine and my siblings. Our house has been subjected to several house parties throughout the years, which deemed successful when my parents failed to discover that they had even happened.Due to working in a restaurant and bar for the last three years, I have a lot of experience when it comes to planning dinner parties and organising the various music events.
If I was elected as Entertainments Officer of the MISU I would try to encourage the creation of more clubs in both campuses, in particular the Thurles Campus, as I feel there is a limited number of options here and room for a greater diversity of entertaining events. I would try to organise events where both campuses interact, if feasible.
I believe this role would help me adjust to life here in MIC and help me gain great leadership skills which I can then use in my future career as a teacher.I believe that the students of MIC should elect me as I would be an excellent spokesperson for my peers. I would listen and acknowledge everyone's requests. I would seek pride in my job and do it to the best of my ability. I would be an approachable candidate and would represent the MISU very well.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application, I look forward to hearing from you
